A monkey got a new lease of life after being treated by veterinary surgeons of the Odisha University of Agriculture Technology (OUAT) here on Friday. The simian, which came to the Market Building area of the capital city eight months back, made it to its home and was quite popular among local businessmen and the priest of local Hanuman temple. Though the monkey was quite familiar with local dogs, it was grievously injured after being attacked by a pack of stray dogs on Friday.

luckily, Hanuman temple priest Bansidhar Padhy and businessman came to its rescue and took it to the veterinary clinic at Badagada in the city. He was further taken to the OUAT’s veterinary surgery department as advised the vet at the Badagada clinic. An intra-modular pinning and a few other surgeries were carried out to stitch back the flesh falling out of the monkey’s stomach.

Abhilash Acharya and four other OUAT PG students carried out the two-hour-long marathon exercise supervised by Indramani Rath of the X-ray department of the OUAT and associate professor Jasmeet Singh.
