The Orissa State Scheduled Caste-Scheduled Tribe Youth and Students’ Council has urged the Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT) to give admission to SC candidate Pratyush Ranjan Bag in the Veterinary PG Department retrospectively from the 2015-16 academic session as per the Orissa High Court order.
“Conducting a hearing a case on June 21, 2016, the Odisha High Court had directed the OUAT to give admission to Pratyush Ranjan Bag, who had been disallowed admission, with 5.6 CGPA in the lone reserved seat retrospectively from 2015-16 academic year. The court has also directed the OUAT to provide backup classes to Bag so that he would clear semesters, for which examinations have already been conducted, and continue as the 2 nd year student from current academic year,” said council president and lawyer Haladhar Sethy.
Sethy said Bag, though had been listed at 67th rank in the General category and 12th in the Reserved category and invited for admission, yet the OUAT authorities didn’t allow him to take admission on the plea that his 5.6 CGPA was lesser than required 6.6 CGPA.
Bag’s parent had filed a case in the High Court in this regard. lawyers Sethyi and Hrudananda Mohapatra were managing the case on behalf of the petitioner.
