Orissa University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT) graduates Mama Mohanty and Mona Kumari have initiated a startup company, DATORD- Daily Agro Tord Pvt ltd, to provide agri-insurance services to farmers in the State.
The startup firm is the first-of-its-kind venture formed by the students in the university.
Besides aiming to provide agri-insurance services, the company also intends to provide advisory services on crop-health, weather information, soil-health management, seed availability, farm equipments, fertilisers, use of pesticides and farmer queries through a mobile app. The app would be accessible within six months, informed Mama and Mona.
Earlier, these students had won a first prize in a national competition “Ag-Hack”. OUAT Vice-Chancellor Prof Surendranath Pasupalak congratulated the students for being ‘job provider’ instead of ‘jobseeker’. He assured to provide all required support to them.
