The State Government would recruit teachers for the secondary schools by conducting a test on the pattern of the Odisha Teachers’ Eligibility Test (OTET). The OTET is conducted for recruitment of teachers for primary schools in the State.
School and Mass Education Minister Debi Prasad Mishra on Thursday informed the Assembly that the Government would introduce the new recruitment pattern from the next academic session. Responding to a query by the MlAs of Ganjam district, including Surjya Narayan Patro, on the steps taken by the Government to fill up a large number of vacant posts of teachers in Government high schools, the Minister said the Government is trying to sort out the problem very soon.
“The Government has planned to conduct a quality teacher test on the pattern of OTET for recruitment of secondary school teachers from the next academic session,” he informed.
The Minister said that by appointing quality teachers and conducting their orientation in regular intervals, a knowledge island could be created at the block level.
