A general body meeting of the Odisha State Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC) Employees Federation was held in the office premises of the Divisional Manager here on Monday.
Federation president Upendranath Mishra presided over the meeting. General secretary Arun Kumar Padhi outlined various demands of the employees and expressed his gratitude to the Chief Minister for increasing the age of superannuation from 58 to 60 years. Hundreds of employees of OSRTC were present.
The demands repeatedly brought before the notice of the Government included regularization of all daily wage and contractual employees of the corporation, implementation of Sixth Pay Commission report and payment of DA, hike in daily allowance, construction of toilet in garage for the mechanics and line staff, payment of EPF and reintroduction of twin route system. The members of the federation expressed concern over non-fulfillment of the demands since long even after the authorities have given in writing and repeated assurances for fulfillment of the same several times.
Besides, the federation also demanded that the inter-State private buses should be given tourist permit and should be allowed to ply on the road before the time schedule of the OSRTC buses and engagement of sufficient number of trained and competent mechanics to undertake the repair work of all old buses which are currently defunct and are risky to ply on the road. If the Government fails to fulfill the demands, the federation will be forced to resort to agitation, warned general secretary Arun Padhi.
