The Odisha State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (OSPCR) on Monday sought a report from the BJB English Medium School Principal, Bhubaneswar DCP and other concerned authorities regarding the action taken in the case of sexual abuse of a Class-V student by a senior student in the school.
The OSCPCR has asked the ATR to be submitted within three days.
Earlier, the All India Parents’ Association (AIPA), Odisha branch State president Pradipta Nayak had in a petition to the OSCPCR urged for taking cognisance of a child sexual abuse at the BJB English Medium School here on October 31, 2019.
The parents’ body also urged the commission to probe the matter through the Bhubaneswar DCP and impose appropriate punishment as fit per law.
In the petition to the commission, Nayak had stated that a parent Debi Prasad Das had alleged that his son studying in Class-V was called by a Class-IX student while a class was on. The teacher allowed his son to go with the student, who allegedly took him to the toilet and allegedly sexually abused him.
The parents alleged that though the senior student has a bad reputation still the teacher allowed his son to go with him.
The petitioner alleged that thought the parent of the victim informed the school principal about the matter instead of taking action, the school authorities tried to hush up the matter.
