The Odisha Shramajeebee Manch (OSM) on Saturday launched a special postcard campaign “Mukhyamantrinuku Dasalakshya Chithi” to press for its demand of a Special Food and Nutritional Security Act in the State. The Manch has set a target to send at least 10 lakh postcards to the CM by July 20 appealing to him to enact a special Act to ensure food security to all. Anjan Pradhan of the Manch maintained that lakhs of genuine poor people in the State are deprived of BPl card which was last revised in 1997.
“Many poor and marginalised people have not received BPl cards. They need food and other essential commodities to live. Though the Union Government has brought National Food Security Act it will not solve the issue. We demand the State Government must bring a special Act under which rice, wheat, potato, sugar will be provided to the marginalsied people,” said Pradhan.
