The Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC) has asked the Dhenkanal district Collector to take appropriate action and submit an action taken report regarding a boy being chained and tortured by his family.
A civil society organisation Human Rights Watch secretary Sangita Swain in a petition to the National Human Rights Commission alleged that a mentally challenged boy Pabitra Sahoo, son of Shyamasundar Sahoo of Rasola Colony Sahi under Hindol block in Dhenkanal district was tied with a chain and tortured.
The petitioner prayed to rescue, rehabilitate and compensate the victim boy. later, the NHRC transferred the case to OSHRC.
