The Odisha State Disaster Management Authority (OSDMA) has bagged the IT Excellence Award, 2019 for its innovative IT application called “SATARK” (System for Assessing, Tracking and Alerting Disaster Risk Information based on Dynamic Risk Knowledge) in the field of disaster management.
The application, which is used in both web and mobile phones, provide real time watch and disseminate alert and warning information for different hazards like heat wave, lightning and agriculture risk (drought), floods, earthquake, tsunami and cyclone/ storms. It also helps the Government authorities in taking preventive measures.
It uses different level of warnings and issues corresponding advisories based on the event scenario. It sends messages in both Odia and English languages.
Express Computer IT Excellence Awards are given to organisations / Government departments that demonstrate innovative use of IT technology for distinct benefits to the public. The “SATARK” serves these purposes in a big way.
OSDMA MD Bishnupada Sethi would receive the award at the Express India’s Bombay Exhibition Centre at Mumbai on September 18.
