OSCAR students' parents stage dharna at DM office

Students of the OSCAR Science College and their guardians staged a dharna in front of the Collectorate here demanding issuance of students’ transfer certificates (TC) unconditionally.

They too demanded return of admission fees to the students, no bail to college secretary Umesh Sahu till publication of Plus Two results and exemption of 50 per cent of fees for the students, who secured 90 per cent marks in Matric examination.

“If these demands are not met, we will resort to fast-unto-death stir and even go for a self-immolation drive,” they threatened. Notably, the college has remained locked since last August 9 after the Secretary allegedly misbehaved with students and their guardians while they opposed why classes were not being conducted. The College is running without a Principal and adequate teachers.

The guardians had on last Thursday lodged a complaint at the Kendrapada Sadar police station alleging that Sahu had misbehaved with them. Then, Sahu was arrested and remanded to jail custody.

Now, the guardians also alleged that the police are asking them to provide all dues upto March 2017 and submit affidavits that they do not have any objection for Umesh Sahu to get bail to get TCs for their wards.
