Two miscreants on Thursday shot at an Odisha Speical Armed Police (OSAP) Constable, Jyoti Ranjan Jena (30), in the Sundargarh town area and fled away. Jena has been admitted in the VSS Medical College Hospital with severe bullet injuries.
Sources said Jena, a resident of Sunaripara under the Sundargarh Town police station who is currently deployed at Rourkela, was eating gupchup at a stall in front of Sundargarh Government College at around 12.30 pm when the two miscreants came in a Bolero and fired at him. A bullet hit left part of his belly and he fell on the spot. The miscreants immediately fled from the spot. Police suspect miscreants shot at Jena over a previous enmity.
"We are investigating into the case and will soon nab the culprits,” said Sundargarh Town PS SI HK Behera.
