Near about 3,400 lorry owners in Joda area have been demanding a hike of price of transport of iron ore since long but were ignored. On the contrary, the truck owners were harassed everywhere.
To add to their woes, the MATOA, the association of the local truck owners controlled by local MlA Sanatan Mahakhud, was not wholeheartedly pursuing the issue.
However, recently truck owners like RI Singh, Pintu Singh, Ganesh Kesari and others met SDPO, Barbil Mukesh Kumar Bhamu with their problem and warned of starting stir if no solution was done soon. Bhammu realized their problem and started discussion with local mines owners and made them agree to hike the rate.
Sources close to the truck owners said around 25,000 people who are directly and indirectly dependent on transport business will be benefitted by the decision now.
