The Commerce and Transport Department issued a notification in this regard as per which the fare for ordinary and express buses has been increased by 1 paise per kilometre and the fare for Deluxe and AC Deluxe buses by 2 paise per km.
With this, the fare of the ordinary buses has been increased to 59 paise per km from 58 paise per km, express buses to 62 paise from 61 paise per km, deluxe category to 82 paise per km from 80 paise, AC Deluxe buses to `1.03 from `1.01 per km, the notification added. Notably, the Government had revised bus fares 20 days back on May 3 following hike in fuel prices.
It may be mentioned here that the state government had announced the implementation of the automatic mechanism for revision of fares on June 4 2015 as per the demand of the All Odisha Private Bus Owners’ Association (AOPBOA).
Under this system, rise and fall in bus fares would be determined by rise and fall of diesel prices.
