Order CBI probe into chit fund scam: Raja

Published on:

CPI national secretary D Raja on Monday demanded a CBI probe into the chit fund scam in which lakhs of genuine investors were cheated by various chit fund companies in the State.

“Judicial probe is a delayed process. As lakhs of common and poor people have invested their hard-earned money, a free and time-bound probe is necessary. Hence, a free and fair probe by an independent inquiry agency like CBI could help zero in on the influential people involved in the scam,” said Raja here at a Press conference.

He also took a dig at the Central and State Governments for their anti-farmer and pro-corporate stand. Reiterating party’s demand for implementation of universal public distribution system and supply of 35 kg of rice at Rs 2-a-kg every month to every family, Raja urged the Governments to ensure a healthy atmosphere to farmers in the country.

Raja also urged the State Government not to acquire land by cutting trees at the proposed Posco project site in Jagatsinghpur district following the stay order of the Green Tribunal.
