Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram visited tribal-dominated Gajapati district here on Thursday, where he attended a series of programmes.
Oram talked to reporters regarding the Central Government schemes like the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act ( MGNREGA) and the National Rural livelihoods Mission (NRlM). He alleged that the implementation has been very poor in the district and most the time the works are found to be incomplete.
Oram said the Central Government is providing sufficient funds to the State Government, but the sad part is that the Odisha Government is unable to complete the projects.
The reporters also raised the question why the Central Government is not constructing a cold storage in the tribal district. Due to lack of cold storage, the tribals are facing a lot of problems and are forced sell their produce at throwaway price.
Among others, Gajapati BJP president G Ravana, Sidhashwara Mishra, Samsundar Panigrahi, Sunil Mohapatra, Bharata Paika and other party members were also present.
