After the amendment to the Odisha Universities Act, 1989, the Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) would now recruit teaching staffs for universities in the State, the Higher Education Department has informed.
In a letter to OPSC Chairman Brigadier Laxmi Charan Patnaik, Higher Education Secretary Saswat Mishra has said the Government has made changes in the recruitment process to fill up posts like Professor, Associate Professor and Assistant Professor in the universities.
Following the newly-amended law, all the teaching staffs in the universities would be recruited by the OPSC, he mentioned in the letter asking the OPSC to discuss with the Higher Education Department in this regard. Besides, the department informed the OPSC about repeal of the Ravenshaw University Act, 2005. Notably, the Government recently amended the Odisha Universities Act, 1989.
