The opposition parties on Wednesday lashed out at the State Government over the Nagada issue after reports that the situation remains the same even after one year after the area came in news in the wake of a series of deaths of children due to malnutrition.
BJP State vice-president Samir Mohanty said not only in Nagada village in the Sukinda area of Jajpur district but in other parts of the State also children continue to be malnourished and starved. But the State Government continues to turn a blind eye to it.
Echoing the same views, Congress MlA Prakash Behera said even though there were multiple child deaths in Nagada, due to the State Government’s apathy, the ground realities remain the same. But the Government is only indulging in false propaganda.
Health Minister Pratap Jena in reaction to the opposition parties charges, said, “We are aware of the situation and taking appropriate steps.”
However, after the issue again came to the fore, the administrative officials made a beeline to the area on the day.
Reports said nutritious food and drinking water is still not available for the children and pregnant women of the area and many children are still suffering from malnourishment.
