Opposition Congress and BJP members on Thursday raised the issue of appointment of new Assistant Executive Engineers once again in the State Assembly, alleging that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has misled the House giving untrue information.
During the Zero Hour, leader of Opposition Narasingha Mishra said the Chief Minister has misconstrued the order of the State Administrative Tribunal vis-à-vis publication of final results of the AEE examinations and, thus, misled the House.
“Order No 3633/2015 of the SAT clearly stated that final results would not be published by the Odisha Public Service Commission without prior permission of the tribunal. But without taking the tribunal’s permission, results were published and the Chief Minister distributed appointment letters. This is sheer violation of the SAT order,” Mishra said, reading out the order copy.
Alleging that the Chief Minister’s reply on the subject was not based on facts and meant to suppress the facts, Mishra urged the Speaker to ask the CM to submit a fresh reply with facts based on the SAT order.
On the other hand, Government Chief Whip Annata Das refuted the charge, stating that Mishra has not gone through the subsequent order copies which do not ask for permission of the tribunal for publication of AEE final results.
While Mishra countered again, Opposition Chief Whip Tara Prasad Bahinipati and other Congress members Dr Prafulla Majhi and Naba Das too spoke on the issue and demanded a fresh statement from the Chief Minister.
BJP MlA Pradip Purohit supporting the Congress charge said the AEE appointment irregularity is very much equal to the Vyapam case of Madhya Pradesh. He demanded that the State Government, like its MP counterpart, write to the Union Government for a CBI probe into the AEE recruitment irregularity.
