Opposition Congress and BJP members on Thursday alleged that the transfer policy of the school teachers in the State is defective and demanded a clarification from School and Mass Education Minister Debi Prasad Mishra in the State Assembly.
“District Education Officers and Block Education Officers are transferring teachers without taking consent of respective MlAs, who are member of transfer committees. Arbitrary transfer of teachers has turned to be a nagging problem in the State,” alleged Opposition members participating in a question asked by Congress MlA Taraprasad Bahinipati.
To this, Minister Mishra said the transfer policy for the teachers is being strictly implemented and added that, in case of urgent requirements, transfer order is issued after seeking permission from the concerned teachers. However, he said the allegation raised by members would be looked into and action would be taken against guilty.
Mishra too informed that the department Secretary would soon hold a review meeting of the transfer committee.
The Minister informed that the State Government is taking steps to fill up all 13,977 vacant posts of teachers in both Government and private schools. The vacant posts include 11,341 in Government schools and 2,458 in private schools.
