The BJD, which is on the line of fire of the opposition parties over the Mamita Meher murder case, on Saturday hit back and accused them of politicising the issue for political mileage.
Addressing a Press meet here, BJD spokesperson Sasmit Patra alleged that the opposition parties are trying to malign Odisha and its people by trying to build up a national narrative through false accusations.
Patra said the saffron party is not concerned about justice to the deceased woman teacher’s family; rather, it is busy doing politics.
“The BJP rakes up the issue of women’s security only when the elections are round the corner and it tends to forget it after the polls are over. The BJP is trying to defame the State at national level by doing cheap politics,” alleged Patra.
Not only the Mamita murder case, the BJP had also taken up several other issues in the past by organising protests. They even depute central teams to conduct on-the- spot investigation. “The BJP had sent a fact-finding team; and we dare them to put forth its finding before police and court,” Patra added.
