Opposition Congress levelled partiality charges against the Higher Education Minister in the Assembly on Tuesday. Raising an issue during Zero Hour, Congress MlA Ansuman Mohanty said the colleges are being allowed to hold college functions if ruling party MlAs and Ministers are invited as guests. However, if the guest happens to be from other parties in a college function, the Higher Education Department is denying permission to hold the function on the plea of examination time.
“leader of Opposition Narasingha Mishra was invited to attend function of the Brahmani College in Kendrapada district, which was scheduled to be held on February 5. But a day before the proposed function, the principal of the college informed Mishra that the function was cancelled as the Government had restricted to hold functions from February 5 to 20 for examinations.
But the Patamunia Women’s College organised its annual function on February,” he said, adding that a Minister had attended the meeting. Opposition Chief Whip Tara Prasad Bahinipati said action should be taken against the Minister and others who violated the norms.
