The normal business could not be conducted in the State Assembly for the 11th consecutive day on Tuesday as ruling BJD and Opposition Congress and BJP members showed no signs of budging from their respective stands forcing Speaker Niranjan Pujari to adjourn the House to Wednesday.
As soon as the House met at 10.30 am, BJD and the Opposition members rushed to the Well of the House shouting slogans against each other and waving banners and placards.Amid the pandemonium, the Speaker’s efforts to conduct the Question Hour went in vain. The Speaker adjourned the House till 3 pm and subsequently till Wednesday.
The Opposition has been insisting on discussion on the chit fund scam since the beginning of the Assembly session.The BJD, many of leaders of which are involved in the scam, is in no mood to allow a debate on the scam as it would provide an opportunity to the Opposition to take on the Government.
