Opp alleges massive irregularities in PMAY

Opposition BJP and Congress members on Wednesday alleged in the Assembly that there have been massive irregularities in allotment of houses under the Prime Minister Awas Yojana in the State and the date furnished in the House is untrue.

Initiating a discussion on a related Adjournment Motion, BJP Chief Whip Mohan Charan Majhi alleged that the Government is submitted different figures at different times relating houses constructed for rural poor.

“A large number of real beneficiaries have been deprived of rural houses under the Prime Minister Away Yojana (PMAY). Houses are being distributed on political lines,” he alleged.

He alleged that three members of a family belonging to the Minister’s Assembly constituency Mahang have got five houses. “There has been massive irregulaties in distribution of rural houses in Mahanga and other parts of the State,” alleged Majhi.

BJP Legislature Party Leader Bishnu Charan Sethy alleged that officials are taking bribes of Rs 20,000 to 20,000 per house to allot a house.

He sang a poetry which meant it is not known how houses would be availed and people are moving pillar to post to get a house.

Another BJP member Naba Charan Majhi demanded that the allocated houses be listed differently as Prime Minister Awas Yoja (PMAY) and Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana (BPGY).

Congress member Santosh Singh Saluja slammed the Union Government for lessening the ratio of allocation of funds in the rural housing schemes.

“When it was earlier Indira Awas Yojana, the share of the Union Government and the State was 90:10. But, the present Government is allocating funds at 60:40 rates. It is a burden on the poor State like Odisha,” alleged Saluja.

In his reply, Housing and Urban Development Minister Pratap Jena informed that a total of 15, 57, 558 houses were allocated during the last four years out of which 9,03,769 houses completed by now. During the current year, 5,65,000 houses have been allocated, he said.

The Minister stated that houses are being allocated in a transparent manner. The Government has issued a toll free number, 18003456768, to get complaints from people to check irregularities, said he.
