An Opolfed Chicken Fresh outlet will be inaugurated by at the premises of the Veterinary Hospital at Sahidnagar here by Agriculture and Fisheries and Animal Resources Development Minister Pradeep Maharathy on Sunday. It is a new initiative of the Fisheries & ARD Department to provide fresh and hygienic chicken meat to the consumers of Bhubaneswar at a reasonable price.
The project has been taken up by the Opolfed with financial assistance from the State Government. A semiautomatic chicken processing unit with a processing capacity of 2,000 broiler birds per day has been set up. Consumers can get processed hygienic meat from the outlet within 10 minutes of placing the order at the processing unit.
The consumers will have the option of getting chicken meat as per their choice like curry piece, leg piece, breast piece, etc. Meat of different broiler birds, country birds, Banaraja and Rainbow Rooster variety will be available. The prices of meat and eggs will be comparatively lower than the existing market rates. Farm fresh eggs both white and brown colour will be available in packs. Bulk supply can be made during different festivals like marriage ceremony and other occasions.
The Opolfed is exploring the possibility of a tie-up with the Venky’s India limited to provide ready-to-eat chicken products to consumers at an affordable price. The Opolfed will undertake online placement of orders from consumers of the BMC area and provide home delivery in near future, according to an official Press release.
