Only five firms give consent for job fair so far

Published on:

Only five companies have given their consent so far to take part in the job fair, a four-day special recruitment drive to be organised by the State Government at the Kalinga Stadium here from September 17, said a senior official of the Employment and Technical Education and Training (ET and T) Department.

Though the State Government had claimed that about 300 companies would participate in the fair to recruit eligible candidates for them, the low turnout might hit the job fair as thousands of students are registering their names everyday to participate in it.

“We are in touch with several other companies and discussions are on with them about their participation in the mega event,” said the senior official of the department.

Sources said many companies are in no mood to recruit the passed-out technical and management students directly at the job fair. The officer said the companies want to conduct written tests, interviews and other tests before offering any job guarantee, which is not possible in the four days of the recruitment drive. “However, we will sort out how to successfully conduct the job fair,” said the official.

Meanwhile, the BTech, MTech, MCA, MBA and Pharmacy graduates are facing problems while registering their details on the website http://cpcdtet.nic.in/Nijukti.aspx as it is not opening due to rush of traffic.
