About 5.15 per cent of people have developed antibodies for Covid-19 in Bhubaneswar, informed Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner Prem Chandra Chaudhary on Friday.
Of more than 1,500 samples collected by the BMC in the first round of second phase of serological surveillance, only 5.15% people were found to have developed antibodies.
“In the community round of sero survey to detect immunity of residents in Bhubaneswar, we found only 5.15% antibody, which shows a very low prevalence,” Chaudhary said.
The survey indicates that Bhubaneswar is the most-protected city amidst the Covid-19 pandemic. “However, the city with a lower antibody prevalence is at high risk of witnessing more number of positive cases in upcoming days,” he said.
He urged people of Bhubaneswar to strictly follow the social distancing norms to contain spread of infections.
