The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) is considering reopening of the Shreemandir, which is closed for devotees for over four months since March 20 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, with certain guidelines.

On Thursday, a meeting of Shree Jagannath Temple Managing Committee was held to discuss a proposal for reopening of the shrine for devotees.

“The discussion is underway on a proposal for online registration of devotees for darshan of the deities inside the temple,” said a committee member, Ramachandra Dasmohapatra.

As per the proposal, the devotees need to register online on a proposed website for darshan of deities in the temple. The submission of identity proof and Covid-19 test report on the website shall be mandatory as per the Covid-19 guidelines. Later, the devotees would be allotted the time for darshan.

However, preference would be given to the devotees from Puri district.

The devotees need to prove themselves as coronavirus-negative. Only limited number of devotees would be given chance for darshan every day, Dasmohapatra said.
