Onion price sees a drop

Published on:

In a major relief to consumers nearly after a month, onion price has come down in the State with increasing supplies from the major producing regions.

While the vegetable was sold at Rs 140 per kg a week back, now it is available at Rs 80 to Rs 85 with the arrival of fresh stocks from Nasik, Bengaluru and Rajasthan.

While earlier people used to buy 1 kg and 2 kg, now they are asking for 250 grams or 500 grams. The price would stabilise in the Rs 30 to Rs 40 range within a fortnight after arrival of more stocks from Nasik, said traders.
