The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has undertaken a task to provide trade licence certificates to commercial establishments at special camps. This drive would cover all the BMC Zones with three specialised camps with six dedicated teams from May 22 to 31.
Those who are not having trade licences but doing businesses, either small or large, can avail certificates at once during the camp period, according to a BMC release on Saturday.
Earlier, availing of licence was a hectic job as it needed proper documentation support and field verification. In the special drive, people need not wait for field verification from the BMC side. Through a self-declaration, they can avail the certificate in a simplified way.
The camps would provide assistance to the beneficiaries who do not have proper knowledge on filling up the formats. Besides, a rate chart for fess calculation on what amount shall be collected for a particular trade wouldl be displayed in the camps. People who are having the licences but have not renewed them can also come for renewal of their certificates in a quick process.
Notably, there are around 15,000 trade licence holders in the BMC jurisdiction. However, the BMC has come to know that there are around 36,000 commercial operations for which there are no licences. As per the Odisha Municipal Act, all the commercial establishments should have trade licences. The BMC has set an agenda to reach out to more people who are not having licences to trade.
Camps would be organised in South West Zone at Rental Colony, North Zone at Chandrasekharpur and South East Zone at the BMC office campus.
Highlights: Single window system; simplified process; same-day delivery of certificate; no field verification, only self declaration will be considered for certificate; dedicated staffs for guidance; rate chart for various trades.
