One more Puri servitor arrested

The Puri police on Sunday arrested one more servitor on the charge of misbehaving with Collector-cum-District Magistrate Arvind Agarwal during the Niladri Bije of lord Jagannath and his siblings on July 17.

The Singhadwara police arrested Sanjay Khunitia, a resident of Bimanbadu Sahi in the town. With this, the number of servitors held in connection with the Niladri Bije fiasco has gone up to nine.

Earlier on Friday, two servitors Surya Narayan Pratihari and Rahgunath Khuntia had been arrested.

The fresh arrest came a day after the district police applied for search warrants against the six servitors at the Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) Court on the basis of the complaint lodged by the District Collector.

The Collector, while naming servitors Damodar Mahasuara, Ipsit Pratihari, Saina Khuntia, Jayakrushna Mahasuara, Bhimsen Palankadhari and Rabi Das in his complaint, has accused them of misbehaviour, hurling of abuses and death threat to him.
