In another such incidence in the State, a Class-IX girl of a school in the Taragaon police station area of Nabarangpur district has been found to be pregnant. District Child Welfare Committee (CWC) Chairman Ashok Patnaik said the minor girl was admitted to a Sakhi Centre for treatment on Thursday. CWC officials would ask her about the details about her pregnancy at the hospital, he added.
As per reports, the girl, a resident of Malkangiri district, had visited her village recently. After staying at her home for a few days, she returned to the school. During routine health checkup at the school, the girl was found pregnant. The school authorities later handed her to her family.
After receiving information, volunteers of the CYSD produced the girl before the CWC. The girl was then sent to the hospital. Notably, in a recent similar incidence, during a medical checkup at a residential school in Koraput district, a Class-X student was found pregnant on December 4 and sent for a medical examination. The District Child Protection officer lodged a police complaint after the matter came to the fore.
