The Cuttack city police have arrested yet another middleman in connection with the sensational kidney sale racket in the city, taking the number of arrests in this case to two.

Speaking to reporters here on Friday, Twin City Commissioner of Police RP Sharma informed that the Cuttack police arrested one Nirakar Dehuri from his native place in Mahakalpada of Kendrapada district on Thursday night in connection with the case. Sharma said Nirakar was working as an agent of a private hospital. “In this particular case, Nirakar was involved in payment of money in exchange of a body organ,” the Police Commissioner said, adding that search is on for another Khatua Babu in this connection. It may be mentioned that the city police had earlier arrested one Sharmishta Jena, believed to be the mastermind in the ongoing organ sale racket in the city. Sharmishta had allegedly enticed a poor woman of the city to part with one of her kidneys in exchange of money.
