One person was killed and 15 others were injured when a Puri-bound tourist bus in which they were travelling hit a truck from behind on NH-5 near Manjaripur under Simulia block in Baleswar district on Tuesdaymorning.
According to reports, four persons sustained critical injuries in the mishap, of which one traveller succumbed to his injuries while the three others were shifted to the SCB Medical College Hospital in Cuttack. The other injured persons were provided treatment at the Bhadrak District Headquarters Hospital.
The bus carrying 47 tourists from 24 Parganas district in West Bengal was on its way to Puri. The bus from Kolkata dashed against a moving stone-laden truck’s rear at around 4 am. The dense fog condition prevailing since last few days might have reduced the visibility on the road, as a result of which the mishap occurred, sources said.
