A 22-year-old youth, Pritiranjan Gantayat, of Bidyadharpur patana village under the Mahakalpada police limits was critically injured when four pro-BJD brothers assaulted him in the presence of Rourkela BJD candidate and former Minister Sarada Nayak on Monday evening.
The victim’s uncle Pramod Kumar Gantayat alleged that as his nephew opposed the BJD leader while the latter was giving poll speech at a religious place near a Hanuman statue in the village, the four brothers, Sanjay Gantayat, Manoranjan Gantayat, Chitta Ranjan Gantayat and Saroj Gantayat assaulted him in the presence of Nayak, who allegedly directed them to do so.The injured was rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital. A police team led by Mahakalpada Police station IIC Padarbinda Tripathy rushed to the spot to inquire into the incident.
