The Marshaghai police on Monday arrested one Rashmi Ranjan Senapati alias Pintu, a resident of Bhusaranga village, for his involvement in the shoot-out case killing gangster Aswajit Sahu on Sunday night at Kusunpur-based Tatatarini hotel near Paradip–Daitary Expressway.

Senapati was an engineer and was working in Paadip-based ESSAR company. But several cases have been pending against him at Cuttack, Bhubaneswar and Paradip police stations, informed SDPO Nrushingha Swain.

According to the SDPO, Aswajit was gunned down by his fellow associates after an altercation took place among them. Aswajit on Sunday morning allegedly had assaulted one Manoranjan Senapati of Bhusaranga village and later had gone to the house of one Raja of Kusunpur village with an intention to beat him. But as Raja was not in the house, he had returned to Kusunpur Chowk and was dinning with his other accomplices at Taratarini hotel. It is there that an altercation erupted between one Birendra Senapati and Aswajit, bringing in the fatal end of the latter.
