The city police on Sunday arrested a person in connection with the murder of a Telugu youth here under the lalbag police station. The police also recovered the weapon of offence, a knife, with which the deceased was stabbed repeatedly on Saturday afternoon in his rented house at Kuttagali.
“We have arrested one person known as Sk Qasim, aged about 30 years, from the same locality and recovered the weapon of offence from him,” said city DCP S Praveen Kumar. The police suspected that previous rivalry was the motive behind the murder and that two to three other persons were also involved in the crime.
The body of Subash Rao, a vendor staying alone, had been recovered by the police on Saturday. Rao had allegedly been threatened by a group of minority community youth of the area after he reportedly asked the latter not to consume liquor and drugs on his verandah.
