The State Crime Branch Special Task Force (STF), which is carrying out a drive against illegal mining in Khordha district, on Monday arrested a person for allegedly carrying out in illegal mining on land belonging to the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration in the district.
The accused was identified as Dilip Das (39) of Pallahat village in Khordha.
According to sources, the accused was operating a mining quarry on the SJTA land without any work order or other valid documents.
The STF team arrested him from the jurisdication of Mangalapur police station in Jajpur district.
A case has been registered under the relevant sections of the IPC and the accused was forwarded to a court on the day.
Efforts are on by the investigating agency to nab the other accused involved in the crime, sources said.
