Omfed milk supplied to Andhra

In view of Andhra Pradesh having been badly hit by the Cyclone Hudhud and facing an acute shortage of milk, among other essential items, Odisha Chief Secretary GC Pati has asked the Omfed authorities to immediately provide one lakh litres of milk to the neighbouring State.

Black-marketers are having a field day in Visakhapatnam, with a litre of milk selling at Rs60 to Rs80.

After Pati talked to his Andhra Pradesh counterpart, Omfed Chairman Bishnupada Sethi spoke to the Collectors of Srikakulam and Visakhapatnam districts to know their requirements so that milk vans from Odisha would move smoothly.

Sources said Omfed vans were on their way to Srikaluam and Visakhapatnam.

Sethi also got in touch the Chairman of Vijaya Visakha Dairy, the leading provider of the milk products in Odisha to discuss the situation.
