The Orissa Minerals Development Company limited (OMDC) has decided to operate three Thakurani mines soon after depositing required fines at the Supreme Court through the National Steel Corporation and the NDMC.
India National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) vice-president and INTUC Odisha president Rama Chandra Khuntia said Union Steel Minister Choudhury Virendra Singh told him about the OMDC decision. Singh said both the Union and State Governments have already given their views and a final call would be taken after talks to be held between him and the State Government and concerned organisations during his coming Odisha visit, the Minister said.
A representative team of the Badbil Mines Workers Union led by Muna Khan along with Khuntia held talks with the Minister at the Udyog Bhavan.
