OMC health camp opposed by villagers in Keonjhar

A health camp organised by the Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) at the Jamupani Government Primary School under Joda block in Keonjhar district was cancelled at the last minute on Sunday after local villagers opposed it.

Locals said the OMC organised such a programme to develop a rapport with locals keeping in view a public hearing on its Dubuna-Sakradiha iron and manganese mines to be held on August 28.

Villagers of Handibhanga and Jamupani coming under the periphery of the Dubuna-Sakradiha mines opposed the move pointing out that the company has not been doing any developmental works under its CSR activities for eight years.

The programme is only an eyewash to divert the attention of the public from the main issues, they alleged.

The villagers said the OMC has denied providing an ambulance to the villagers at the time of need. They also threatened to oppose the company’s public hearing.
