The Special Vigilance Court, Bhubaneswar on Monday awarded OMC Deputy Manager (Mining) Nrusingha Charan Sahoo 30 months of rigorous imprisonment (RI) and imposed a fine of Rs20, 000 while convicting him in a disproportionate assets case.
Sahoo would undergo one more year of RI in default of payment of the fine, ordered the court.
Sahoo had possessed assets worth of Rs5,10,463 disproportionate to his known sources of income which he could not account for.
Acting on a complaint lodged in June 2007, Vigilance officials had raided his residences and office room on the strength of a search warrant issued by the court. During the search, his movable and immovable assets worth of Rs21,94,699 were detected. After investigation, a chargesheet was filed against Sahoo on July 30, 2011.
