The Commissionerate Police seem to be not in a mood to let the arrested gangster Dhalsamant brothers to walk free from jail easily as it has decided to reopen old cases relating to abduction and tender-fixing.

Commissioner of Police Yogesh Bahadur Khurania on Friday said police would write to different Government departments seeking information which could help it in its probe against the criminal siblings.

Sources said police were planning to reopen four abduction cases which were closed due to lack evidences against the criminal brothers.

Khurania said if we feel any Government department has any information, we would write to them to pass it on to us for investigation.

Sources said the Commissionerate of Police have already sent notices to Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) and Road and Building (R&B) and RD Departments to provide information relating to tender works involving the gangster brothers.

Meanwhile, in the wake of tender-fixing allegations, the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC)on Friday terminated the contract with Hyderabad-based Ramky Enviro Engineers limited (REEl) entrusted with the job of collection and disposal of solid waste management in various wards under the civic body’s jurisdiction.

Notably, the tenure of the contract was to expire at the end of next month. However, the CMC had to prematurely scrap the agreement ahead of its completion following hue and cry over tender-fixing charges.

It was alleged that the gangster siblings acted as middlemen in fixing the tender for the firm.
