Rajya Sabha member Pyarimohan Mohapatra on Tuesday launched a campaign of his newly-formed political party—the Odisha Jana Morcha (OJM) here for the forthcoming Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) elections.
Mohapatra began the campaign in style by flying ‘kite’ on the auspicious occasion of the Makar Sankranti.
‘Kite’ is the symbol of the party which was allotted to it by the Election Commission last month.“My party targets the Assembly elections (scheduled this year) and I aim to occupy power in the State. We will use the next month’s CMC elections as a small step towards that (Assembly polls),” said Mohapatra after launching the campaign.
In fact, the CMC elections would be the first testing time of Mohapatra’s party in electoral politics as the party failed to contest the Bhubaneswar civic body elections held earlier this month.
