In a major jolt to the Directorate of Medical Education and Training (DMET), the Employment, Technical Education and Training (ETET) Department has asked the Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE) authorities to oversee the process of counselling undertaken by the DMET for admission to MBBS and BDS programmes for the academic session of 2014-15.
The action came after allegation was made before the Government that the conduct of counseling by the DMET was not in consonance with the provisions of the Odisha Professional Educational Institutions (Regulation of Admission and Fixation of Fee) Act, 2007 and has not been approved by the Policy Planning Body (PPB).
In a letter to Health and Family Welfare Secretary, ETET Joint Secretary Sukanta Pradhan asked the former to ensure that the DMET provide all the database of the medical counseling to the JEE authorities immediately for necessary verification.
The second phase and third phase counselling would be conducted in July last week and September first week if any seats fall vacant.
Meanwhile, following the completion of first phase MBBS and BDS counseling, the DMET Joint Director Dr Umakant Satpathy in a Press release informed that students can now lock their choices between Monday evening and till 10 pm of Tuesday.
Students can download the seat allotment letter from June 2 morning and take admissions by June 3, Satpathy said.
