An ‘Ujjwala Divas’ as a part of the Gram Swaraj Abhiyan would be observed on Friday under the aegis of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG) through its PSU Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) in Odisha, said Indian Oil State CGM and Oil Industry State-level coordinator Pritish Bharat at a Press meet here on Thursday.
He said that as parts of the celebrations, beneficiaries would be sensitised about safe use of lPG and benefits of clean fuel and connections would be provided to eligible beneficiaries on the day.
He said there is a target of distributing about 70,000 lPG connections with 100 connections in each of 667 lPG panchayats (village distributors). About 15,000 lPG panchayats would observe the day across the country.
Bharat also said the Ministry intends to promote amongst the rural consumers safe and sustained use of lPG through peer group interactions like ‘Kuch Seekhein, Kuch Sikhayein’. Safety literature (safety instruction and insurance cards) would also be distributed among consumers.
He said the interactions would be based on the themes of health, safety, environment, women empowerment, etc.
