While the poor tribal girl from Nabarangpur district is battling for life at SCB Medical College Hospital here with 95 per cent burn injuries, a human rights activist has moved the Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC) seeking, among others, a high-level inquiry into the shocking incident. Kanakdei Bhatra, a Class X student of the district last week allegedly made an attempt to commit suicide by setting herself afire after her poor parents expressed their inability to arrange her school and examination fees of Rs200. Suffering 95 per cent burn injuries, the 15-year-old girl was shifted to the Cuttack hospital on Saturday.
