The District Child Welfare Committee (CWC) and District Child Protection unit members on Thursday rescued a two years’ old girl from Gunthi village under Pattamundai police limits following the mother of the girl failed to take care of the child.
The mother is mentally sick and most of the time she beat her child and did not give her food, informed District Child Protection Officer Bijay Kumar Sahu. According to Sahu, some villagers of Gunthi village telephoned to the CWC to rescue the girl child, identified as Puja. The CWC members with the help of the District Child Protection unit rushed to the village and conducted an inquiry.
