The villagers of Bhainsadani panchayat of Nuapada district, who were on strike since November 25, finally ended their stir on Monday after the DRDA Project Director along with the Boden BDO and other block staffs heard their grievances.
The demands were discussed at the demonstration site one by one, and the concerned officials were given instructions to initiate steps immediately.
“The demands were genuine and it is the responsibility of the BDO to review the activities at the panchayat level regularly, which is lacking here,” said DRDA Project Director Pradip Naik. He also instructed the block officials to include all the demands of people for creating provisions of drinking water, solar electricity, etc., in the Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP). “All these programmes can be undertaken in GPDP and fund is not a constant,” said he.
“It is understood from the words of the PD that, atleast some of our demands like electricity to left out hamlets, drinking water provisions and inquiry on irregularities in distribution of cycle would be made” said the people after the departure of the officials.
It was learnt that the PD conducted a meeting of the block officials in Boden block office later and instructed the officials to take an early action.
