The Communist Party of India (Marxist) on Wednesdaytermed the Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commission (OERC)’ public hearing on the distribution companies’ proposals
for a power tariff hike anti-people.
The party contended that there is no justification on the part of the power distribution companies and others to suggest for a power tariff hike while they have failed to provide quality power.
CPM secretaries’ council member Suresh Panigrahi demanded that the State Government meet their five demands before going for a hike.
The demands include collection of pending dues from companies by the Gridco, installation of modern equipments to lessen power transmission loss, strengthening of infrastructure for more power generation, distribution of quality power and rectification in Gridco’s managerial functioning.
