The Odisha Durniti Sangharsha Manch (ODSM) has demanded that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik appoint independent Cabinet Ministers in the Water Resources and Works Departments.
The files of the departments are sent to the CM for decision, but he is not verifying the files properly, said the ODSM in a Press release.
Independent Cabinet Ministers can verify the files of these two departments better than the Chief Minister, the Manch said.
There should a hearing date in a week at the State office and in every district so that common people's problems could be solved. Ministers, Secretaries, RDCs and Collectors should ensure this, said ODSM general secretary Jagabandhu Sarangi.
Biju Patnaik was accessible to common people and Government employees, but Naveen Patnaik is not, he rued.
"As there are no independent Ministers in the Water Resources Department, the State Government could not handle the Mahanadi and Polavaram issues effectively," Sarangi said.
Toll-free numbers of the Vigilance department should be provided to the common people to convey grievances, he added.
